Laser merch photoshoot (sabotaged by cat)

For years I’ve been jealous of astronomers and biologists with their fun space-themed and animal-themed clothes (some of which I’ve worn!). Recently I finally had a chance to something I’ve always wanted to do, and I designed some laser-themed clothes. Hoodies that say LASERS on them! Button-down shirts with laser beam patterns! Scarves with fun little lenses on them! Who’s fabulous now, astronomers?

Not to keep the joy of laser-themed clothes entirely to myself, I made an online store to sell the laser gear to anyone else who needs a little more pew-pew in their life. Which means I needed photos.

I borrowed a big roll of paper from a friend and set it up on my kitchen table, draped over an ancient projector screen that I found in my basement. My cats were instantly interested.

That’s Krypton in front and her brother Neon in back. Stacked on the bar stool to the right is what would become an ever-growing pile of lint rollers as I fought a losing battle against cat hair. (I should hasten to point out that the clothes are print-on-demand from a factory somewhere so if you order one there will be no cat hair.)

They say that a roll of paper makes a perfect neutral background for any sort of product photography and they’re right, it looks great. It is also, as it turns out, a cat magnet.

A grey tabby cat with - and this is important - adorable white paws. He sits on the roll of white paper and looks up and over his shoulder at the place where the paper roll is descending from.
Neon briefly contemplated trying to jump to the top of the projector screen, which would have been a terrible decision. I managed to dissuade him.

That’s nothing compared to a pile of neatly-folded soft tank tops.

A grey tabby cat sits on a pile of two shirts, completely obscuring whatever was written on them (spoiler: they both say "lasers"). He looks regally and directly into the camera.
I did mention that these are print on demand so if you order these, you will get freshly printed ones from the factory, not ones my cat has sat on? No cat hair, I promise.

Within seconds of me placing the tank tops on my nicely prepared paper backdrop, Neon had sat on them, and was not going anywhere.

Not even as I started setting more t-shirts around him.

A grey tabby cat, still sitting on a pile of two tank tops, inspects two new t-shirts that have been laid before him. His tail is curled adorably around his front paws.
At one point Neon started swiping at the cartoon laser beams.

In fact, by the time I added a hoodie and a button-down to the stack, Neon had settled in for a full-on snooze.

A grey tabby cat is in full cat-loaf mode, eyes closed and ears relaxed, while surrounded by three shirts that say "lasers" on them and one button-down shirt with a laser pattern.
Okay he is pretty cute like that.

Krypton cruised in for a cameo but the prime nap spot was taken and so she soon found other cat things to do.

A brown tabby cat is walking past, looking back over her shoulder vaguely in the direction of the camera. She is on the move, focused on something else. The grey tabby is still mostly asleep but he has one ear pointed at her and his eyes slightly open. He'll go back to sleep once she's gone.
Krypton is pretty too, though this isn’t her best angle.

Eventually Neon moved on and I was able to get a few cat-free shots for the site.

But I had to use the healing brush to erase SO MUCH cat hair.

Stack of two tank tops, two t-shirts, a button-down shirt, and a hoodie, all with laser designs on them. There are no cats or cat hairs in sight.
Seriously there are like 20 spot removals in this image alone. I love you, Neon, little buddy, but you sure do shed.

So much for photoshoot one!

Would you like laser merch of your own? Would your cats like nice soft laser-themed clothes to sit on? Maybe dogs like these too, worth a shot!

Also please tell me if there is a laser-related thing you wish you had on a shirt or other item, or a design of mine that you wish was on a different thing!
