A new test brings better team meetings to Google Beam

Although video conferencing tools keep us connected, users still find it difficult to feel part of the conversation. Trying to read subtle emotions in a sea of tiny boxes can leave remote participants feeling like observers rather than engaged participants. Google Beam, our real-life video communication platform, helps you solve this problem by turning your meetings into active exchanges.

Today, we're sharing a new test that brings better team meetings to Google Beam on all devices. Using the highly immersive HP Dimension display, Google Beam enables participants to join from non-Beam devices at their actual size, positioned as if they were sitting across the table from you. Paired with surround sound that focuses each voice directly on the speaker, colleagues look, sound, and feel like they're in the same room.

This setting happens automatically, whether you join the meeting from home or the office. Our research suggests approaches like these help bridge the mixed 'inclusion gap' by enabling a 50% stronger sense of community engagement and a 21% increase in reported ability to contribute to conversations.

And we're continuing to work with Google Workspace and Zoom to help elevate the meetings you have today to Google Beam.
