Helping children and young people learn and grow online on Safer Internet Day

For more than a decade, Google and YouTube have introduced products, supported programs, and implemented built-in safeguards that support children and youth on our platforms, while giving parents the tools and resources to make informed technology decisions for their families. On this Safer Internet Day, we share the latest updates that support children and young people in the digital world.
Empowering families with simple parental controls
Google and YouTube make it easy for families to choose and customize their experience with supervised accounts and parental controls. The Google Family Link design now allows parents to manage devices on one page, and view a device-specific usage summary, set time limits and easily adjust controls from the integrated screen time management tab.
Similarly, for families using YouTube, the updated sign-up experience will allow parents to create a new account for a child and easily switch between accounts on the mobile app depending on who is watching. Parents can also now set the amount of time spent on Short Scrolls – and soon, there will be an option to set the timer to zero. Parents of supervised child and youth accounts can also set Bedtime and Break Time reminders, building on existing automatic protections.
